Accessibility
In the last decade Japan has made great strides to make its cities more and more accessible. Visitors today will see sidewalks with the special yellow blocks in the pavement to guide the visually impaired. The curbs in many cities have slopes at the corners for wheel chairs, the crossings have audio signals to alert people when it is safe to cross, and more and more public facilities have Braille on their signage, in elevators, etc. Hotels have added special rooms for those with disabilities.
