Japan -> Nagoya -> Tokugawa Art Museum
Tokugawa Art Museum
Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture
The Tokugawa Art Museum houses the 10,000 items of the Tokugawa family treasures. Paintings, ceramics, armor, and calligraphy are all on display but the most famous attraction is the Genji Scroll dating to the 12th century. This scroll is the oldest surviving text and illustrations of the 10th century The Tale of Genji by Lady Murasaki. The original scroll is only displayed once a year due to its extreme fragility, but reproductions are on exhibit year round.
