Japan -> Osaka -> Osaka Castle
Osaka Castle    Osaka, Osaka

The Osaka Castle was originally built by ToyotomiHideyoshi in 1586 and was the largest castle in the country at that time. The castle has a rough history of being destroyed and rebuilt. First, the Tokugawa shogunate attacked and destroyed the castle in 1615. It was rebuilt, only to be struck by lightning a few years later. What was left of the castle was burnt down in a fire in 1868. The present structure was built in 1931 and somehow survived the bombing during WWII. The castle does sit on its original walls and some outside buildings, such as the Tamon tower and Otemon gate, are from the Tokugawa period.
