Japan -> Kurashiki -> Ohara Museum of Art
Ohara Museum of Art
Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture
The Ohara Museum of Art was the brainchild of OharaMagosaburo, owner of the Kurashiki Spinning Corporation. Ohara was a great lover of Western art and thought it should be accessible to everyone, even the small-town folk of Kurashiki. The building was opened in 1930 with a Grecian façade and is now one of the finest museums in Japan with pieces from Picasso, Renoir, Degas, Matisse, and Gauguin.
