Japan -> TOKYO -> Tsukiji Wholesale Fish Market
Tsukiji Wholesale Fish Market
TOKYO, Tokyo Prefecture
The Tsukiji Wholesale Fish Market is probably one of Tokyo's most famous attractions, and rightly so. Between 5am and to 10am everyday except Sunday, you can witness over 450 types of seafood being sold from over 1,700 different stalls. The sea produce that arrives is still dripping with seawater and flash frozen fresh. There is a fish auction that is held every morning at 5:20am, which is normally closed to the public, but one can steal a passing glance. Navigate the maze of tiny stalls to the famous Blue Fin tuna. Japan consumes about 30% of the global 1.7 million ton tuna catch and eats 80% of that raw. Stop at one of the many food shops for an extremely fresh sushi breakfast.
