Japan -> Kanazawa -> Kanazawa Castle
Kanazawa Castle
Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture
Kanazawa Castle was one of the largest in feudal Japan until it was destroyed by a fire in 1881. Not much remains except the armory and rear gate. Ishikawamon Gate, however, is pretty impressive and sits to the north of where the castle used to be. Part of the castle was rebuilt along with a park. Nearby, the Oyama Shrine is dedicated to the rulers from that time, the Maeda Toshiie.
